Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Remote Starter?

Hello All, My girl friend wants to buy for my 02 Ram/Cummins a remote starter. I told her I did not think they were available for the Diesel because of the variables involving manifold heat system/wait to start time. I have not seen any listing thru TDR Links. Am I correct, or is the system out there and who sells/installs it? Tom

There are remote starters for a diesel that tie into the wait to start light so it will only fire after the wait to start light has gone out. The biggest thing is if your truck is a stick or an automatic. If you have an auto you are all set. If you have a manual you need to purchase a special remote start unit for a manual truck. The cost about $100-$150 more installed.



For remote starters, about the best thing going right now is the Viper 560XV. It has a built in turbo timer as well However it will not work safely with a manual transmission.

I have one on my truck and it's been on there for about 2 1/2 years with no problems. It's a prestige alarm with remote start. If you have a Circuit City in your town that's where you can get it purchased and installed.
