Who has the dirt on remote starters for our trucks?

Turbo cool-down feature?

Any useful info is appreciated

TIA

Eric

A remote starter is sort of a waste on a diesel since they don't warm up much while idling. In fact extended cold idling can damage the engine due to cylinder washdown. You should start your truck and drive after the oil pressure comes up, a little hard to do with a remote. ;)

The remote start is great:D I leave the A/C switch on and crank it up about 5 minutes before I jump in to go, it's nice and cool when I get in, about a five minute idle won't hurt a thing. Then after a long trip to cool the turbo I push the remote start button while the truck is in park and idling, after the lights do their flash to let me know that the remote start was activated I turn the ignition off and remove the keys get out and lock the doors, she could sit there and pure for about 12 minute before the remote start times out, but I usually shut it down ( with the remote start ) after about 3 or 4 minutes, It works great in the winter too.

Remote start awesome.

I love my remote starter. I am adding an exhaust brake which will allow heating up in winter while not hurting with extended idling... . one of the best BOMB's i've made...

Remote start

I think I should also mention that I had the TSB for winter warm up, so even if it were to idle for more than five minutes on a < 32 F day it wouldn't be a big deal. I guess what I want to know from everyone is what kind of remote starter you have, if you like it and what neat features it has.

Remeber... . If you can't be an athlete at least be an athletic supporter. :p :p :D

I hope you have a good park brake and don't for get to use it with your five speed out of gear. I know what it feels like to have a roll back over 3000 to fix under truck . LOL Ron in Louisville Ky:rolleyes: :D
