Help! Remote TPS info....

Can anyone tell me when cummins moved away from the remote TPS? What are the advantages/disadvantages alternatives? Cost of parts? "Any" info would be appreciated.

Do you mean when did they put the TPS (APPS, really) under the "gas" pedal? I believe it started in late 2005... .

Well, I can only offer opinion.

In my opinion, positioning the APPS on the pedal is "the way it should be" for drive-by-wire throttle arrangements. This means one less hole in the firewall to pass a cable or wires, one less underhood component, and the APPS remains relatively protected from the elements in a convenient little package right under your foot.

Not sure how much they cost relative to mounting underhood, but I suspect it's cheaper (otherwise, why would they do it?).

I wish the Feds would let them steer by wire also. My wifes Jetta has electric power steering. Its great, on off camper roads the car automatically compensates and stops the pull. Same with Torqure steer.

I can hear it now; people will say exactly what they did when Chrysler first invented hydraulic brakes, "why would I want hydraulic brakes when I already have perfectly good cables"! :)
