Removable front winch mount

The DrawTite 6003 has a pull rating of 9000 lbs. I believe.

JC whitney has the Hidden Hitch brand.

I just ordered a front receiver for the wifes Grand Cherokee. They also have the winch carriers and other accessories.

Here's whitneys part num. 55NS5717Y. Same part num for all vehicles. They will ask you make model & year on the phone (1-800-537-2700).

They also have the winch carriers (std. 81NS6679X, dlx. 07NS7543N) and a plug in service step (81NS6681T)

I've got one on my truck and have used it twice with my Ramsey 8k and it has performed great both times. The front mount is a Drawtite unit. I notice you are in Irving, if you would like to see mine you could come to the meeting of the Big D Dodge Diesel Club in Addison on Saturday morning. If I know you're going to be there I'll stick the winch in so you can see it. Let me know.

I have had the warn front hitches for years. On a couple of my trucks in the past and on my 99 Ram. I got a 6Klbs Warn winch over 20 years old...
I went with the Warn hitches since they are beefier and are designed for the side loading
you get from winch service. . I'm not saying the others wont work. But Warn's front hitches were designed for that service, are not pricey and are better made IMHO.
The quick connects are self cleaning, and on occasion get a little dirty, but plugging it in and out a few times cleans it right up.
It's a good way to go.

When you buy the Warn hitch carrier to mount the winch to, you get a cable set as well. My 6Klb'er is mounted on the Warn carrier.

and all the winching stories I now have, I mananged to get hooked on Warn... no pun intended


You can get a custom cable made with the same connector from Wrangler products, and put a plug at the rear end of the truck ... adding even more ways to get out.


But mine isn't used to get me out... but to get the others I come apon that are stuck and in my way #ad

Question to all with experience and knowledge:

I have a Warn 9000lb winch that was last on my '94 4x4 gasser on a front winch bumper, and it got me out of the deep sh** on multiple occasions, and was worth its cost 10 times over. I traded the '94 and got a spankin new 01 QC SWB HO 3. 54 4x2, and obviously I'm not going to do any heavy 4 wheeling with this, but a functional winch is really worth the time.

I have seen in Peterson's or 4wd mags in the past (but of course I threw them out) a 2" receiver that bolts onto the front frame, so what you do is using quick connects run the power to the back 2" receiver and the new front 2". The winch mounts on a bracket that goes into the 2" receiver, and then you can pull from the front or the back with the stress on the frame and not the bumper.

Have any of you done this or had good or bad experiences? I know where to get the wiring and stuff, but can't find the sources for the mount the winch goes on or the receiver that bolts to the front of the frame. Any help would be appreciated.

And, from a new guy, this Register Rules, and this un-BOMBed stock inline-6 has incredible power. There is no feeling like punching it at 60 in this truck, getting pushed back in the seat and flying by some old stinky pre-turbo Ford U-haul. I have gone to heaven.

For the Warn grill guards (trans4mer, for example), is there any hope for those of us with a sport package? I can't find any reasonable grill guards to hold a winch for a '99 sport. #ad

I made my own front reciever hitch very heavy duty, with a ramsey 8k for front or back works great.
