How do I remove the "plate" under the vent??? I want to install three switches and I think that would be a good place. An info would be great.

Don't quote me but I think there is a screw that holds that plate on underneath it somewhere.

Mberry is correct. If I remember from my buddys truck there are 3 screws to be exact. Don't forget to remove the screw behind the 'trash bag' hook before you go prying the trim panel off.

there is no screw on my 04. 5, not is there any place to mount much. the switch box for the air bag off that comes in a standard cab is behing there on a bracket that is part of the panel. i just used a credit card to remove it. this way it doesnt mark up the dash. you could put a switch on there if you were to re locate the little box that is behind the cover.

They must've changed it. My buddy's truck is an '03 so it doesn't surprise me that it is different. Good to know. Sorry for confusing matters!

Ok, Ill just have to play with it and see. I was hoping I would have to remove my dash but that sounds like what Ill have to do. Thanks everyone.

I just had mine off. there are no screws at all. just start pulling gently in the upper corners and the whole unit will pop off. then you can see if the plate comes off or if there is enough room for switches behind it.

Cut carefully that little piece of plastic can not be ordered separately you will either have to order the whole console cover or find one in a wrecking yard.

Yup, should be just that one screw above the bag holder, then pry the whole center console panel off.

Ok, now I feel better knowing that I can ordered just the plate. Any clue on price??? What Ill do Is pick up a plate and cut the holes and install the switches and just install the new plate.

I just had that piece off installing an RB1 radio, I think that panel had a wire plugged into it. It had a protrusion for the dead plug to plug into. Seems to me the whole panel only had 1 screw(by the trash hook) and pop it off the whole center section.

Whoops!!! these guys are right. I totally forgot about the 1 screw above the bag holder!!! sorry!!!!
