Never messed with a Cam sensor on my 99... but I was under the impression that if you had a Cam sensor... you wouldn't have a crank sensor. And vice versa. They both did identical jobs didn't they?
My 99 has both but the service manual states the cam sensor is for diagnostics only and does not effect engine operation. I have replaced the crank sensor once so far. Living in Arizona I do not have the problems some have removing it as there is no rust on anything. The plastic parts of the truck may melt but the steel parts stay in great shape:-laf
