I know this was covered already, but I still cannot figure out how to remove the factory radio. More specifically, how do I get the face plate bezel off of the radio to change it out? I have an 07 Mega with the Larame package and the Bucket seats with the center console. I am trying to put in the Navigation radio and replace the existing head unit. I am worried that I will snap something as I already slipped with the screwdriver !

Here is what I have and what I am trying to install:

From the manual

Full Floor Console

1. Before proceeding with the following repair procedure,

review all warnings and cautions. (Refer to

23 - BODY/SEATS - WARNING)

2. Using a trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, separate

the seven front console bezel clips (2), lift up the

back of the bezel (1) and remove.

3. Remove the bolts (1) and lift the rear of the base

up to release the front guide pins (5).

4. Remove the front base (2).

Then for the center dash:

1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.

2. Using a trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, disengage

the retainer clips that secure the instrument panel

center bezel to the instrument panel.

3. Disconnect the wire harness connectors and

remove the center bezel from the vehicle.

If I could figure out how to get the pictures from the manual here for you I would do it but... well you know how that goes.

Thanks for the reply... well, I have just been out there wrestling with it and I still cannot get the cup holder part off (Floor Console). The front of it will unlatch, but the back is attached somehow to the center console storage area. There is no way to get under it and I am already bending the plastic trying to get if off. I think I understand it correctly that I have to remove the center floor console cup holder first correct? Why is this so hard !!??

Pull the rubber inserts out of the cup holders and cubby to be sure there are not screws under them. Also there should be two screws coming into the radio bezel from below, that is why the console has to come out so you can get to the screws. Have not done a center console truck for a while so sorry I can't tell you exactly what your missing. Also note the radio bezel is different so hopefully you have one to fit the new radio.

Just took a quick look at the 07 manual, if you have full console it attaches to the front seat and the seat has to be removed to get the console out. But I'm guessing you don't need to go that far. If you can get the base (per the service manual instructions listed) out you should be able to get the radio bezel out.

"A pic is worth a thousand words"...

I too am having trouble removing my radio bezel so I can install my new NAV unit. If only brista could post some pics! I have no idea how to help posting pics... I have my console removed, and screws removed from underside of the bezel. I don't know what to do next... radio bezel seems just as tightly affixed as before I took the 2 screws out. Does the bezel just pry off from the front now?

Thanks everyone for help!

OK, Got it done... I will post some pictures later. To get to the radio with the full console unit:>

You have to remove the cup holder first - To do this, lift up the front of the cup holder until you can feel the 4 clips (2 on each side) lift up. Then I had to remove the screws from the inside of the console storage area so I had access to the tabs on the back (rear) holding the cup holder in. I then took a screwdriver and press on the tabs from within the storage box, and pop... it came out. It is not easy, but keep at it.

Once the cup holder is off, you must remove the next 3 screws holding the cup holder support assembly. Once that is removed, you will see 2 more screws holding on the lower dash assembly - remove them and pull the dash assembly down to remove it.

Finally, look under the radio/instrument cluster and you will see the final 2 screws holding the bottom of the bezel assembly. Once they are off, you have to pry the faceplate off (All this while not scratching any of the plastic. I used 2 thin screwdrivers and worked my way around starting at the old radio.

Thanks everybody for the help !!

Couldn't you have ordered your 07 with the navigation radio?

Could have, but didn't :) I did not want to spend the $2400 to get it when I purchased the truck, but once I saw one I had to have it. I got it off of E-bay for a lot less anyway and got the latest model/software too.
