Why injector upgrade?

4" exhaust

Excuse any mistakes I'm on for the first time! I'm installing a pressure gauge on my 01 Automatic 2 wheel drive and will need to access the test port on the injector pump with a short piece of fuel line. My question is can I safely remove the spring loaded valve core of the test port and connect the fuel line/pressure gauge directly to the otherwise always open test port? Thank you for your feedback and opinions, Ed :)

I would purchase the hose with the schrader connector already on it from Geno's like I did and then there's no need to pull the valve core from the port. If you are adding a Vulcan big line kit which on the 01 removed the fitting for the test port you will have to do what I did and add one inline. I used a Russells fuel line test port fitting from Jeg's and then cut the hose and added the socketless female -8 AN fittings inline. The Russell's fitting comes with -8 AN male on it and has a 1/8" NPT hole on the body. Go to NAPA and get an AC schrader valve and screw into the hole. I can post the part numbers later if you need them.

Rob: Thank you for the information regarding the test port. I did purchase the 30" hose from Geno's and it worked fine. I'm installing a Westach Gauge and wondered if I needed the schraeder valve core inplace or the core could be removed. Well everything bolted up just fine, I'll finish the wiring tomorrow. Again, thank you for your assistance. Respectfully, Ed
