Removed Muffler

Has any one removed just the muffler on a 6. 7 yet. Or put an after market

muffler on. I would like a little more aggresive sound but I don't wan't to take off any of the emissions junk. And are there any sound clips out there of this.

What kind of codes did he get? Did the truck go into limp mode? How was the process of getting another one put on if he did? Oh so many questions.

I'm not sure what codes he got but I know the check engine light is on. The overhead display also says particulate filter needs serviced. I don't know if it's in limp mode but I do know it has lost power. I don't know what process you'd have to go through to get a new one. I would not recommend it to anyone cuz all it did was lose power.

Thanks for all the replys. I didn't think it would make much diffrence with all the filters ahead of it. But man I miss hearing the sound of my 02.

a muffler delete, you are wasting your time, i have the dfp and cat off for about a week now. i cant tell much difference in that sound

I have been seeing some of the new exhaust kits that come out that claim to free up like 14 or 20 hp. I can't find the one that said that again. But can any one else see what one of the kits would help on these trucks besides removing the muffler. I looked under mine and I can't see any major bends to restrict air flow. And to resonating tips help any??

Removing muffler will make no diff except to loose about 25 pounds of dead weight. it is a flow through resonator, not a muffler and the sound diff is minimal. Removing the DPF and Cat will through lots of codes,,,,, about 14 if I remember correctly with about half of those being duplicates. The problem is that is WILL de rate the engine, kind of a mini limp mode. and once you put it back on you have to go to the dealer to get them to reset the memory for 2 of the active codes to go away. untill then, you will still be derated.
