Joe,

You win the cookie! I loosened on all my injector lines last night while the truck was idleing. The number 5 cylinder is causing the rough idle.

The truck runs very rough with any of the injectors loosened, but when I loosen the #5 injector, the noise gets slightly louder, but the engine doesn't shake as much.

I took out my delivery valves and compared them hoping to find a problem. But of course, I didn't. I assume the problem is internal to the pump and I will just live with the roughness.

Thanks for your input. I can admit now that I was wrong for assuming the 370's were causing the roughness.

I would put them back in, but I just installed them in a fellow TDR members truck (also a '94) to compare. He is going to test them for a week.

Chris,

Maybe the best thing to do is to pull your pump and have it calibrated and repaired at a good Bosch shop.

The best thing to do is get a new pump from Piers. Too much $$$ though. #ad

Chris,

While I remember, have you switched your small 160HP Vibration Damper (Harmonic Balancer) to the larger & heavier 215 HP one?

The 175, 180, 185 & 215 HP engines all use the same big one.

Only the 160 HP truck comes with the small one. Its a direct swap. You will need to adjust the tach pickup.

Its Cummins p/n 3924435 about $175 if I remember right.
