Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) removed the VP44 today, went smooth

Ordered a reman unit but it shipped today so I will have it Monday. Couldn't order it any sooner because dealer had not yet decided if they would do the repair if we paid half. It has only been 8k miles since THEY replaced the first failed VP44.

With a little instruction these are no big deal; it does help however if you have a few specialized tools. I did not have long enough metric bolts for my gear puller so I had to take a trip to Napa. For anyone contemplating this job, have no fear, it's just not THAT tough.
 
Hardest part is getting the gear to release from the pump shaft. You go lucky, at least with this part, because its only been on for 8k miles. Which really sucks IMO. Hope you have better longevity with the reman VP. Have fun with the install it's smooth sailing from here on.
