I started striping my truck today to get ready for a new paint job, and trying to strip off all the old peeling paint is about to wear me out, i started using sriper but still have to scrap and sand, anybody have any easyer way to go about this, i've been told that i need to get off all of the old paint so i won't have the same problem with the new.

i've posted pics of my progress at link below

Rick, my hat's off to you for tackling this job. Sorry I can't provide any practical advice but you have my moral support.

Just hang in there you will persevere!

Cheers,
Al

Rick,

I had a Ford that needed to be painted cause the paint was peeling and the paint shop used a chemical stripper that they said worked real good. You might want to talk to a local body shop and see if they will give you any info.

The other thing they do if the entire truck is going to be painted is to blast with baking soda to remove the old paint.

My hats off to you also. I have worked with my friend who is a body man, it is a lot of work to strip and sand down a car never mind a complete full size truck. Biggest thing is to make the primer paint as nice and winkle free as possible. Once the final paint is sprayed on, it shows everything. Use a TACK cloth that you can get from body shops. It helps get all the little dust that you might not see with your eyes.
Good Luck and can't wait to see the final pictures.
