I have a friend that just bought a new '97 2500 CTD. It's a super clean truck and was too good a deal for him to pass up. The only problem is that it has some girly pin striping on it. It wouldn't be a problem to remove if it was the sticker type but this stuff is paint. I was wondering if anyone might have a suggestion on removing this. He called a couple of body shops and they wanted around $100- $200 to remove it, this might be the safest way to go but figured I'd ask.

Thanks, Kris

I've done this to several trucks. They have remover at any auto parts store. I used a hair dryer first and then the remover to get rid of the excess glue. Went real fast and does not hurt the paint.

Disregard my previous post I did not notice that your talking paint :( I would recommend the body shop and the $100-200

Thanks guys, that's what we figured too but thought it was worth a shot. Lot's of excellent info here:) , thought we might get lucky.

Thanks, Kris

I tried Isopropyl, denatured alky, Preps-all (sp?) and Thin-X... and they all worked with varying degrees of success - the least to most successful listed in order.

The only bummer is that the paint thinners tended to soften the clear coat underneath the girly pinstripes.

About all I ended up doing was removing the 'twinkly 50's retro stars' - I left the rest of the pinstripes for fear of ruining my entire paintjob.

Matt - I hate pinstripes.

Sooooo Ya wanna remove pinstripe?

WooooooHooooooo hang on to yer biscuits boys!!!!!!!!!!

Easy Off oven cleaner.

spray it on and let it set a few minutes... ... ... . wipe it off.

Us sign guys that had to remove the painted lettering on trucks always had a couple of cans handy.

what do ya think the body shop is gonna use? Girly pinstripe remover in a can?LOL

Peace... ..... Out

Eric
