Hello... Well my clutch finally went south Oo. . My question is: Is it easier to remove the transmission and transfer case together or seperately. The truck is a 1997 3500 manual 4x4 that is going to be getting new flywheel and clutch tomorrow..... Thank you, Marc

I find it easier if your doing it by yourself to seperate them.

but if you have help, leave it together.

6 or half a dozen :-laf

Any idea what the 241 weighs? The 231 I have under my Jeep is ~50-60lbs or so and it's not hard to pull it off, rest it on my chest and roll out of under with the creeper.

It's a lot easier to seperate. You should be able to lift the transfer case off without a jack, it's not that bad. Just don't do what I did and try to get the crossmember off by trying to hammer it down and out, did that before and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't come out. Didn't remember that the frame flairs out to allow the crossmember to be slid forward then dropped out. Stupid me  .

about 100 pounds i think.

Much more like 60-70lbs. I just slide it off the transmission extrension housing and lift it down, setting it on my chest by laying on my back then roll out from under the truck on the creeper. :) And yes, it is easier to separate them for removal. Just took the transmission out of my '98 today as a matter of fact... . :)
