I am in need of some advise on a problem I am having. I went to a friends wedding in Las Vegas. On the way home I stopped just north of Reno to fill up. I went to start the truck and it would only crank over. The lift pump was running on its long cycle. I opened the line from the lift pump. It had good pressure, fuel everywhere. The truck started after I hooked up the line again. It ran bad once I got the RPM up some. I drove maybe 3 miles back to a hotel. The next morning no start. I towed it to Reno Dodge. They could not get to it til the next day. I was there with a friend and her 4 yrs old daughter. I could not wait there so I rented a car and drove home. Reno Dodge called a couple of days later. No pressure from the lift pump, its bad. Strange it had pressure when I look at it. I told them to fix it. Two days later I got another call, the lift pump is on and now the injector pump. Fix it. I go pick it up a few days later. I get the truck and head home. Just north of Reno I stopped for munches. I notice a strong fuel smell and lack of power. Fuel was all over the engine. I thought they never cleaned it up, remember I checked for pressure. Within 30 miles north of Reno the truck starts bucking and I go to pull over and the truck dies. It will only crank over. I sit there for about 30 mins. and the truck started up and ran fine. I head to Susanville, because it was closer and I was upset with Reno Dodge. The truck ran ok at lower RPM's It was bucking at a steady 1500 rpms of over. The lift pump was still on its long cycle. It then dawned on me, fuel filter. I got one in Susanville an the truck ran great. I got back to Oregon and cleaned the motor off. I now have a fuel leak. Take it to Jim Doran in McMinville and the injector tubes are leaking. There was a TSB on the early ISB stating that the injector tubes must be replaced once they are loosen. Also it appeared to have been overtighten. Call Reno Dodge and basicly was told it is not their problem. They said the filter was good when it left the shop, and became plug in under 30 miles. ???? They also told me that the best mechanic was working on it. Does that mean that he never messes up? He was human by the way.
I believe it was the filter all along. The mechanic in Oregon also said it sounds like it was only a filter. Reno can not show me any bad parts or tell me what went bad in the pump. I had 101,000 miles when it went out. DC paid for half and I am grateful for that. I have no problem paying for something that needed to be done. I need some help with this matter. Some of you may like Reno Dodge, they may be the best, but I believe they made a mistake and I should not have to pay for it. So what do you think?
