After replacing about three lift pumps over the last five years I disassembled one to find out what fails. I noticed that the top stainless steel cover had significant wear from the vane pump gears. I just turned the top plate over and re-assembled it. I torqued the three top nuts to about 100 in/pounds. The pump put out 10 psi when I tried it. I now have a spare to carry with me. Has anyone else tried to repair one?
