Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Repairing the APPS?

Surely some of the electronic gerus out there should know if the APPS sensor can be repaired,instead of having to shell out $400. 00 beans from D/C. HELP!#@$%!

its been tried before without much success. there is a thread here by steve st laurent saying that it is now available from napa at a lower price.

I had a thread running on the internal construction and POSSIBLE method to clean one to return it to service - but the "fix" only seemed to work about a third of the time, and eventually the APPS had to be replaced anyway.

Napa calls it a TPS... . not sure of the part # though. Check out the post by Steve... . should be there. The cleaning proceedure for the APPS is covered in issue 54, pg. 20 in TDR mag.

Just to make it clear, the one at NAPA is for a 12 valve and not for the 24.

Yep, the one at NAPA was the wrong one. I have a lead at parts plus now though for one that's listed for the 98-99 manual trans 24v. It's a brand new listing and they don't even have pricing or picture information yet. I hope to hear back soon.
