Has anyone experienced many burnt rear stop bulbs? Mine seems to go out every couple of months (either side). when i replace, the contact is burnt (plastic) but the bulb appears to be good. I read some threads about the lamp out light, which i get when they go out, but i did not see the same "burnt contact" problem.

Having the same problem on my 04. 5 they seem to rattle out of the socket. I thought I read another thread about this being an issue. Warranty item

i had the same problem only mine was due to water (condensation). . if your lenses are the least bit fogged up then that could be yer problem. . I drilled one small hole in bottom of each light assy and havent had one burn out since... . also put grease in the socket... . i thought they got rid of this issue befor your truck was born tho... oh well... could be worse... you could be like the "other guys" winkin at ya (refering to the gm products on our highways!)..... my two cents

My 03 has had the same problem. Both times the lamp out indicator has pestered me (on, off, on, off, on, off as I hit bumps in the road) I have discovered that the filaments are still good but the wires on the bulbs have slightly melted into the plastic on the bulb and aren't making good contact anymore. One of the few minor problems I have had with this truck. Nothing major yet.

We have had the "lamp out" indicator lit for a while on our 04, and we've read that there is a connection problem with the bulbs that lights the indicator... we have no burnt out bulbs...

I'd go to napa and get some dieletric grease, like what is used under the ignition modules on the gas engines... and I'd put this grease on the contacts of the bulbs to prevent the damage caused by a poor contact... This is a non hardening material designed to improve connections.....

A bad connection after all, creates heat, which burns and melts the plastic... .

Hey i just realized it today on my 05. But it only doesn't work when my headlights are on. My blinker still lights up and when i apply the brakes it lights up but when the head lights are on it just doesn't seem to want to light up. How do you take the tail light housing out to. Is it those two screws that you can see when the tail gate is down near the tail light. And do you think my problem on this one is that the connection on the plastic has melted or what? any help will help guys, thanks.

Ok now i have just noticed that the blinker bulb doesn't work on the passenger side either. All my headlights do but the blinker bulb doesn't. The blinker still works but the bulb is not on when the headlights are on like they should be. Any word about this problem aswell
