Hi All,

I have a question that I hope someone can answer. I have a 1999 24V with a cracked 53 block. I have lock-n-sitched the crack 2 times and it still leaks. I can pick up a 12V motor that is in good shape and would like to swap the cracked 24V block (just the block and its internal components) with the one from the 12V, while keeping the 24V head, fuel system, and engine controls intact. Can this be done? And if it can what would it entail? Has any one done this? Any advice would be appreciated. Many thanks in advance for your replies.

The sensors will not screw in because Dodge went from SAE to straight-thread metric on the 24V (STORM block). I would try to find a 56 24-valve block as they were significantly beefed up in the weak area. Or just find an entire engine to swap in.

I believe any block other than the 53 were all a lot thicker in that area, and I think eventually some blocks did not even have numbers, at least not in the same spot as the 53 was, but I could be wrong.
