Good day all. Well I got my truck back after I had to replace the engine. The truck only had 400,000km and one of the cooling nasals got pluged and killed #5 cyl. How many of you all had to replace the motor?

Mine is a 02 3500 6spd.

Thanks Keith :)

Glad you got it back on line. I'm only @ 144k so still in the infancy stage. Glad to hear I made the right decision to go w/Cummins vs. anything else. I too like many here are driving a Cummins with a Dodge wrapped around it.

And what brand of Oil Filter were you running? SNOKING

Sorry you all I was busy with work and I just goy back. for you question I used amsoil oil and the amsoil oil filter. what happened to the motor was when the mechanic did the head gasket he got crap in to the motor and 800km after the cooling tube for the piston got plugged up and killed the motor.

:-laf :-laf Thinking orange?? I had a waranty shortblock replacement at 50k  Havent heard about this prob for a long while, but mine was the ol' "oops we forgot to update the filter so when you put it on the new 24v it implodes and deposits poop in the cooling nozzles, thus melting pistons"

The wix dealer was closed on a bored sunday afternoon so I stopped at wally world and got the "orange" filter, wich to that point I had zero problems with on cars and small pickup. Add to that, my first TDR mag hit the mailbox while the truck was in the shop, and does any one want to guess what the topic was in the 24v section???!!! If only I knew about this place sooner!!

Talk about irony... .

I know guys flame Fram, but for 3yrs i never had one problem out of them, maybe i got luck or it was the plant that i was getting mine from i dunno... Did i switch after joining the tdr, yep, as the more i drove that rig the more i loved her and just couldn't see wasting her life away on a filter, so now nothing but Stratapore filters. If i had not joined the TDR would i still be using Fram, that i can't answer, but for 4 bucks more i have the piece of mind and can sleep at night also ... . Of course when i bought the truck there was no mention of approved or non approved filters either, so i blame the dam dealer for that...
