I tested mine
Easy test: remove connector, insert a jumper wire inside of the connector tail and turn on the ignition switch. If the lights come on, pretty good bet it's the switch. To complete the test, remove the switch from the transmission. Get a continuity meter, insert the leads in the switch and press the steel ball in. you should not see any continuity, although mine did. I haven't cut it open yet, but I beleive the contacts are burnt and wont' carry much current.
