Finished up last night and felt a sence of acomplishment untill she fired up and I still had the nock, not near as loud but still there? What next? Drop the pan and have a look around? Will it hurt to start it up for just a min to see or hear anything with the pan removed? CBIGRED064X4 150,000 SOUTHBEND CLUTCH,SOON TO HAVE 8 IN STACKS,85 GAL AUG FUEL TANK,K&N COLD AIR SYSTEM, NEXT WK AMSOIL.

I wouldn't reccomend that approach!. . Sounds like the easiest way would be to do a cutout test... . If you don't have access to the tools to do a cutout test, just remove the valve cover and disconect one solenoid wire at a time until the knock disappears. Atleast this might narrow your search to a particular cylinder. You can run the engine without a valve cover.

***NOTE**** Don't attempt to unplug the injectors with the engine running, it can deliver a painful shock!!

what is this cp3/fca and just where is it at on the truck . cost? can it be tested with a multie meter? 2006 3500 4x4 4 door 6 spd. 150,000 miles.

The FCA is mounted on the rear of the CP3 (Injector Pump). It is what actually controls the rail pressure. They have a tendenacy to get sticky and that allows the rail pressure to fluctuate wildly. This of course affects how much and quality of fuel being delivered by the injectors. Te best way to test is is with a good gage on the rail or a scan tool that allows you to monitor the pressure in real time.

I have a knock with my '03 (more pronounced at startup) and the diesel shop I had it at couldn't figure things out. I was getting diesel in my oil. Where is the best place to buy a FCA. I know they have modded FCA's out there. Does anyone know what they are worth. If they are prone to failure maybe I should get one and swap it out.
