Replaced Laramie Emblem on Tailgate

I found that the Laramie Emblem on the tailgate of my ’06 3500 was looking as if the chrome around it was coming off. Upon close up inspection, I found that it was not the chrome coming off, but a plastic covering over the emblem was peeling back around the edges. Dirt had gotten under the plastic making it appear that the chrome was coming off.

I decided when I replaced it that I would use the new emblem from the 4th generation trucks. Contacting my local Dodge dealer, I found that they could obtain the newer Laramie emblem for about $12. It was almost exactly the same size as the original one, but was just a different shape.



Following basic emblem removal instructions, I removed the old emblem, cleaned the paint surface of any residual glue/dirt, wiped it with a clean alcohol wipe, and mounted the new emblem. I think it looks better than the old one.

The Dodge Mopar part number for the new emblem is 68001724AA in case anyone else wants it…:-laf

i take mine all off... except for the 3500 on the doors... i dont care for them.....

Yeah, I like 'em that way too! If you have a dark color, lots of flat or gloss black, it looks great! With this gray, if you don't have much 'bling' on it, it'll kinda blend into the pavement color!
