Replaced the starter contact today

I replaced the starter contact today on my CTD.

Cost $2. 00, thats right, two bucks.

Yesterday the starter hungup and would not disengage. I was afraid of a fire. At a starter repair shop it happened again today.



I will be getting a set of Larry`s soon (thanks Rick).



Now to the meat and potatoes.

This site is worth every penny of the membership.

If I would have gone to the dealership the cost would have been over $500. 00. On my back for 30 minutes, and the starter is working. I know I said on my back, no smart a$$ remarks



I don`t how to thank all the helpful members on this site.

All I can do is say thanks to all. The TDR is a money saver. Oo.

Makes me wonder if the dealers have a scam where they only tell you they're putting in a new $500 starter when in reality all they do is give you the starter from the last sucker's truck with new contacts.

Wouldn't put it past some of them.

About 30 years ago there was a gas station/garage well up the pass east of Sacramento Ca. , that sold more fuel pumps than any out let in the country------but they did not buy many at all!!

It was a tourist stop and when people would stop for a break and try to go one they would commonly be vapor-locked. The "mechanic" would diagnos a failed fuel pump and replace it------with one he had taken out of a similiar car earlier. The time it took to replace the pump was enough time for the car to cool and cure the vapor lock. The "Bad" pump would be cleaned up and put in the box for the next victim.

i wouldn't buy a set of contacts to have in the truck. i would buy a set to put on... ... . this is not the kind of job you want to do once the truck is in a parking lot covered with snow and the starting starts zinging... ... ... ... ... ... put a set in NOW and just change them in 100k mi... ... ... my $. 02
