Anyone replace their center driveshaft bearing assembly. I have almost 200K on mine and the low rpm vibes are getting worse. THis is the hanger support between the split drive shaft. Mine truck is a 96 5sp BTW.

Any aftermarket brand to recomend?

Is their a good way to test if my factory one is still good?

jjw, sometimes it's just the rubber encasing the hanger that the bearing rides in that causes the vibration, it may be a dealer only part. Easy way to check the bearing itself is to feel it after a long drive, if it's on it's way out it will get hot.

carrier bearing can be picked up at napa-auto zone ect.
Been carrying one in my tool box for over 500 k still wraped in plastic, oem is still in place!I replaced all the u-joints with grease able zerks, not that one failed 'just didn't trust the one's i could not get greas into.
Every time i lube the rig i check the condition of the rubber isulator and it is not crushed down or pushed to the side. so still waiting for the slight noise to use the new one. Or just for the time i have nothing better to do!

When mine went, it almost felt like a falt tire vibration.

Had it repaired at a driveshaft shop in Houston. 50-75 installed on the driveshaft, I did the R & R on the truck.

Mine failed probably due to the outside right dually wheel being rear ended by a drunk. Pushed the axle off of the perch. About 25K later, had replaced the tailshaft seal and then the support bearing. Dodge engineers had to design a 'special' bearing rather than using one that was off the shelf.

This was several years ago when the truck was still relatively new. These bearings should be readily available now.

Good luck.

I have read comments of shimming under the hanger to help shutter problems.

I was more interested in the rubber support then the bearing.

Thanks for the comments.
