My K&N has worked well until now. I pulled the intake the other day and found some dust in there, so now I am looking for a replacement filter to fit my K&N intake. I'd like to get a proguard 7 but I can't find anywhere that lists their universal filter sizes. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Those filters sounded good and the Eaau4090 is about right to fit my intake so I ordered one. My stock intake with a new factory filter does not flow enough. I can suck the filter minder down at will and my boost is down 6 psi cruising egts are up 50-100 degrees. I can't wait to try the new one.

amsoil dust

Smokey, I installed an Amsoil nano-tech filter. Was shocked at 2K miles to find dust in the intake. I'm sure it flowed more, but that dude is out of here. I thought I'd found the right filter, with the hipe and all, spent alot of time looking so let us know what you decide on and why. tks in advance

You must have a leak somewhere in your intake system. I have quite a few customers who run the Amsoil nano fiber filters in the desert inviroment with no problems of dust ending up in the intake.

wow, thats scary, i would definatly look at the whole intake system and see if you have a leak, its also possible that the dust you see is from the old filter--you just forgot to clean it, i have sold hundreds of these and have yet to see a problem like that. keep us posted on what you find. thanks Oo.

Oo. i also think that the amsoil universal nano filter is the best way to go, it's like $59 shipped, so its not to bad on price!!

I heard that K&N has new dry filters out that require no oil.

Too many manufacturers were voiding warranty because the oil was getting drawn into the heated wire in the intake on gasser engines.

Anyone have any experience with this?

I always had great results, and oil analysis when I was using the K&N - but after reading the occasional stories like this one, I also started using the K&N seal grease as added protection. These OEM filter boxes are pretty much junk, and the nearly new OEM paper filter I pulled to replace with the K&N showed LOTS of dirt leakage around it's outer sealing area:

I never saw that problem, or any dirt/dust inside my intake tract after switching to the K&N - but eventually switched to my current BHAF for the greater air capacity it provides.

By the way, here's a pointer to a thread I posted on the K&N issue:

The dust

Guys hope I get a chance to look at it this pm. The trucks been basically sitting and I haven't had a chance. I'm not going to say it's the filter until I have ruled out any other possibilities, the filter by what I understand of the technology should be superior to the oem type filter, filter better and flow more. Just makes sense. Will look at the dust with the microscope to try and figure out just what it is, hope it doesn't look like cockellburs and yes it will get cleaned before any significant miles are added. later.
