ERobinette,

I have the DLRs and it has been the stopping point for the Sport conversion. Could you tell me how you did the wiring to retain the DLRs? Where the DLR module is located?

Thank you

Brian

Brian, I don't have factory DLR's, I've noticed a connector on the drivers side wheel well by the power distribution box that says its for the DLR. I used Daniel Stern's wiring harness. Since the inner bulb each side low beam isn't used I wired it to be used as a DLR. I used a seperate relay and switch for my DLR.

I got the lights on Ebay from Headlight Depot. For the price, I'm not complaining, but I will pass this info along:

I replaced their cheap chinese 9004 bulbs with the Sylvania XtraVisions from my old lights. I didn't have 9007s, so I ran what came in the lights. One of their cheap 9007 bulbs blew in about 2 weeks, and when I pulled them out, both bulbs had a bulge in the glass that wasn't there before! I put in a pair of Silverstars, which were also a huge improvement in lighting over the cheap 9007s.

Plan on putting good bulbs in these lights soon... YMMV

But no matter what, get yourself a set of Sport lights from somewhere, plus the SUVlights harness! You'll wish you had done it sooner.

My 97 head lights are junk. I run around on high beams and no one can tell the difference! Low beam is basically candle light. The lenses are UV'ed.

I've got good OEM lights on my '97, and have the Sport Light conversion on my '96.

If you want to save dollars, I'd sure sell you my good '97 lights, then I can justify putting Sport Lights on the '97!

Click on my name below to send me an email directly on this.

I love the '96's Sport Lights and would like to have them on the '97 ... but it's stock OEM lights work so well I haven't brought myself to spend the money :)

BTW - I added my web page Dodge Ram Sport Headlight Conversion to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) of this forum.

If you use the SUVlights harness, you get all 4 bulbs lit on low, and the second filament in all 4 bulbs lit on high... :-laf  Oo.

I'm not sure they existed when I did mine.

I did the same thing on my own... . well I bought 2 harness' (I dont remember who made them) and configured them so all 4 bulbs are "on on low, and all 8 bulbs (filiments) are burning on hi.

They get warm, but there has been no issue with excessive heat.

I'm running a standard 55w bulb.
