After installing the Vulcan kit (the "real" one, not the 3/8" Genos version), my fuel pressures haven't changed much. I'm still getting 13 psi at idle, 10 cruising, and I can drop it to zero at WOT.

I'm thinking I need to replace the pump, but am not sure what I should get. So far, the options seem to be:

  • OEM lift pump
  • FASS 150 (no filter/separator - just the pump)
  • Holley blue (like I have on my '67 Mustang?)
  • Mallory, other Carter, etc.

At present, I only have the mods in my sig. An aFe PG7 Stage 2 will be installed Monday, and I'll probably end up with exhaust and turbo enhancements (not to mention a clutch). Perhaps a Comp.

Any recommendations for and/or experience with the "best" pusher pump for such a configuration?

According to the Geno's ad the "real one w/ 1/2" lines tested the same as the "fake" one Geno's offers w/ 3/8" lines according to the manufacturer.

I saw that on the Geno's site:

The result: Vulcan noted no difference in pressure as verified with his electric gauge in the cab of his truck, and with pre- and post-filter readings using a mechanical gauge.

One ambiguity, though: the 1/2" kit direct from Vulcan also replaces the line from the filter to the VP44. The factory line is tiny (. 315" OD, so . 25" ID?). The text above only mentions "post-filter" - was that at the filter, or at the VP? I'm not promoting one kit over the other (doesn't matter to me) - I'm just wondering where the pressure was actually measured. Personally, I like the fact that the kit I purchased eliminates two more banjo bolts and gives me a pretty blue garden hose from the filter to the VP. YMMV.

(I probably should not have used the word "real" in my post above. I should've instead said "original" or "1/2 inch").

I have the in tank pump. I'm not happy with the pressure this thing puts out. I've been reading all the post on the different types of systems guys have been using. I think I'm going to go with the FASS 95gph pump with the big line kit. I need to locate a fuel tank module to replace the in tank pump. No electrical pump is bulletproof. I think it's the best setup for my needs. Jeff

Go with the FASS, or if you got plenty of cash, the RASP is the best set-up out there, I love mine, the more you stand on the gas, the more it flows!! :D

Does the relocation bracket mount using existing holes in the frame or do you have to drill new holes?

The 1/2" kit I purchased direct from Vulcan uses the bolt and hole from the removed, rear-most fuel line bracket.

I can't find this kit on Geno's website. Can someone provide a link?

It's under "(Dodge/Cummins) Drivetrain Accessories", and is the last item on that page.

Have you checked the accuracy of the Westach FP guage. They are prone to fail. I had to replace mine.

When I was trying to decide between the genos kit and the new kit from vulcan, I called Eric at Vulcan and he said the test on the genos kit was on a stock truck and would recommend the 129. 00 kit for any truck that is other than stock. I bought the kit from vulcan, and a new lift pump from cummins. I have 9 psi all the time and it doesn't even drop a half pound under heavy throttle.

If it's failed, it was bad out of the box. It's only been on the truck for about 2 weeks, and pressure readings have been consistent during that time.

But no, I haven't checked its accuracy with a separate gauge.
