Does anyone make a muffler for the 05's that is a replacement without replacing the exhaust tubing? I would like to find one that has better flow for any power and mileage help, with a nice sound. Don't want a drone or obnoxious noise. Maybe I'm wanting too much. I don't see much use replacing all that 4" stainless it already has.

Give this one a try, I just ordered their replacement MBRP muffler and it sounds good to me.

DIESEL PERFORMANCE PARTS INC. 1-866-455-7788

This muffler replaces the stock muffler and uses the factory hangers.

I don't remember the part number but this is what what is listed on my bill:

1 Stainless High Flow Muffler 2004. 5 + "600" Engine

They will know which MBRP muffler.

MBRP Muffler

Got my MBRP from Mark Craig of Diesel Performance Parts also. I am VERY happy with this muffler. Straight through design, great fit, no drone and is quite unless you are really getting hard on it. Even then it is still not too loud. .

Don't know what truck you have but I got a muffler delete pipe from Geno's, the cat does most of the muffling now the truck sounds SWEET Oo. not to loud has a very nice tone and lowered exhaust temp 250 degree's

Lowered EGT's by 250*???? Sorry, but I ain't buying that!

I run gutted factory mufflers on my trucks. There is nothing to buy and from a flow point they are just a wide spot in the exhaust system. If you do it right, they are not loud at all... very close to stock. I have NO drone at any speed, throttle, or load.

I have written instructions for first and second gen trucks. The third gen mufflers are a little different, but the basics are the same. If anyone wants a copy of my instructions, send me a PM with an e-mail address where I can send them.

Actually it did, ran 850 empty now 600, towing would easily hit 1300 now pullin 10K through mountains in Maine it will get there but taskes a long grade, Had stock muffler only removed that. I was surprised at the difference, dont know maybe stock muffler was messed up but it did drop 200 to 250

Just got off the phone with Diesel Performance Parts, looking to purchase a MBRP muffler for an 06 Megacab. The 06 has a resonator aft of the muffler that will not allow the muffler to bolt up? The rep said to call back in a month they are designing a part for it. Anyone else have this problem

I put one on my 06 mega. Take it to a good muffler shop. They will bend the hangers and weld it on for 45 bucks or so. worth it to me. they were done in 30 minutes too. the hangers only had to be heated and bent about 3/4 of an inch to line up well. They also cut off about 2 inches pipe on each side of the muffler. sounds good and real stout.

I'm sure there'll be some form of egt reduction, but does it impact power any... . specifically negatively (e. g. reduced backpressure) on a stock truck? or do you have to compensate with a box,... .

On my Megacab the resonator is 8" from the back of the muffler, and is roughly 8" X 16" in size. It rises up over the axle.

Anyone have an opinion on this? Reason I ask is that when I put an exhaust on my Dodge Gasser... I lost bottom end and it shifted the power curve up... . yes, that was a full exhaust upgrade, not just a muffler... but just curious as to what the impact is with just the muffler on an 05... . any negative change at all?

I did the same thing with my 1500 gasser and had the same effect. I was hoping somebody would have an answer, don't want to do that with this truck. I don't think it happens though or I am sure someone would have said something in all the posts I have searched. Mike

I made before and after dyno runs of the MBRP replacement muffler - actually did the install while the truck was on the dyno! I don't recall the exact numbers, I'd have to look at the dyno computer, but it actually lost about 2hp and 10ft/lbs. I also made before and after runs of the aFe stage 1 air box and it lost 1hp, but gained about 6ft/lbs. The truck was otherwise stock. I'm sure on a modified truck the results would be different.

muffler

for you gasser you need a little bit of back pressure to run right.

i just installed a bullydog SWEET removed cat left resinator in place $ 120. 00

averag 19 mpg prior will see what results.

Curious about the muffler delete

I like the idea of completely removing the muffler using this Geno's straight thru pipe. How much louder is it over stock? I'm running a 2006 quad cab. The cat will muffle the majority of sound but will the family be unnerved after pulling the trailor to our favorite campsite?
