If you've ever replaced a left front shock on a 3d gen 4x4, please tell me how you did it. Today, I couldn't remove the mounting collar from the top of the shock because I didn't have one of those tools that hold the shock still while removing the top nut, and I couldn't remove the battery tray because I couldn't remove what looks like the anti-lock control box (I think) from the tray.

Thanks!

Steve

Remove the bolts around the shock tower thingy, remove the bottom shock bolt and nut. Pull the assembly straight up and to the left squeezing past the ABS brake lines. Seperate the shock from the tower, put the new shock on, place the assembly back through the tight spot past the hard brake lines and bolt her up.

I would not call it easy, its a pain to change the drivers side, passenger side was easy.
