RVers Beware

I need a good online source for some replacement ceiling light lenses/covers for some of my fixtures - the old square snap-in type commonly used in RVs thru the 80's and 90's - they are fairly common in the better equipped RV supply stores, but nearly impossible to locate online - at least in the searches *I* have tried so far. I can find all sorts of the complete fixtures - but not just the lenses alone - any help?

PPL in Houston, TX is a little more backyard tinkerer friendly IMO. Have you seen their on-line catalog? They offer lots of electrical/electronic/lighting components and provide prompt, reliable service.

I bought LED taillamp assemblies from them that are a direct replacement for the common Bargman tailllights on my HitchHiker fifth wheel.

Are your overhead lamps fluorescent? If they are not you might be happier spending the few dollars required to retrofit fluorescents instead of buying new lenses to update the old lamps.

Try Camping World.

Camping world is one of the first to come up on online searches, and as stated, only display the COMPLETE fixtures, not just the lenses, at least not the square snap-in type that is so common...

Rather than the scatter-gun approach of various *possible* sources - probably most of which I've already tried with no luck, I'm hoping some reader here has actually found and BOUGHT these from a *known* active online source... ;)

I know these are fairly readily and cheaply available from a wide range of independent RV suppliers - I recently bought a half dozen from one in Pendleton - but then later discovered that most of those in my exterior accessible storage bins also need replacing, and Pendleton is 150 miles away...

Thanks - I'll check them out - and no, other than a single fluorescent fixture above the kitchen sink area, all fixtures are bulb type - which are completely adequate in this older RV, which will see limited use...

Finally found an online outfit that will send me their catalog - seems most of these outfits DO sell replacement lens covers, it's just that they're such a low-buck item, they prefer to focus advertising on the more expensive options...

SO, I'll either find what I want in the catalog and order them, or just wait until we are again back in civilization to buy over the counter...

Walts in used to be in Fontana new freeway made him move to Rialto CA this guy has allot of stuff from the RV factory inventory that they wanted gone and he has bought it up. These are undoubtedl the MOST COMMON interior lights use in most brands of RV's of all types since the late 50's - MOST decently sized online RV suppliers sell the complete fixtures - but FEW sell or at least advertise only the replacement lenses/covers as a separate item - even though routine wear and tear damages LOTS of them, and requires their replacement:

These are slightly dome shaped, and measure about 5 inches square - and simply snap into the fixtures.

I can usually find them in various RV supplier stores - it's just that there are none close to me, and I have been looking for an online source - the few I have found, want over $3 apiece for them, but the stores commonly sell them in 2-packs for about $1. 50 each. All the ones inside our latest RV (MH) are fine - but the 7 or so in the outside accessible compartments need replacing, and I figured to also get a few spares, since our 5th wheel also uses these same fixtures - and I just can't see paying $3 for an individual cheap plastic lens cover, when the whole fixture sells for a little over $5...

Just call me stubborn - or CHEAP! :-laf:-laf
