I replaced the orignal tire which were Michelin LTX A/S with Michelin LTX M/S hoping to get better traction in mud and snow. These tires make the truck drive squirley, I don't know if this will change overtime but changing the tire pressure doesn't seem to help. Any ideas? This is on a 99 2wheel drive. Tire size LT245/78 R16 Load range E.

The old tires with less tread probably masked front end problems. Check all steering linkage, ball joints, track bar for wear. My bet is you have a problem somewhere in that area. .

good luck

I agree, those Michelin m/s tires are solid, good choice, you must have some other issues. Personally I think that is the best tire you could put on a light truck this heavy...

Squirrelly tires

I have had this issue on steel bridges with the Michelin tires in the LTX-M/S. I think it has to do with the tread block spacing. Does this occur on a certain strip of road or a certain surface? The LTX A/S doesn't seem to exhibit this problem in my experience. By all means get the front end checked out including the steering stabilizer, alignment, track bar, and ball joints. If that doesn't help, maybe you can borrow another trucks tires for a test drive to see if the tires are the cause. It is a disquieting feeling when the truck squirms like that isn't it! Ken Irwin
