Replacement transmission year?

I have a 95 CTD with an automatic that needs help. The overdrive is gone. Short of totally going through the current trans, what year transmissions will work as a replacement? I saw several in the classified section and don't know what will work. Any help would be great. Thanks.

94 or 95 will work. What's wrong with O/D on your current one?

It seems the first three gears are fine. As long as you drive around with the o/d button off things are great. When you switch the o/d button, rpm's go up (the transmission slips bad). We're not sure which way to go. Any help?

You could always ge the Od unit rebuilt,or have both the trans and Od unit done at the same time. I would think a used one in excellent condition will be tough to find,since they were only used for 2 yrs in your configuration. You need to talk to Bill K. http://www.dieseltrans.com/
