I am considering changing the vacuum hard lines on my 97 12V. I am detecting some wear and possible crack in the line to the CC Servo under the driver battery box. Has anyone else done this and what did you use for the replacement lines? I am considering 1/8" Silicon hose for semi rigidity capable of withstanding the vacuum. I think this is similar to what may be used for aftermarket turbo tuner cars. Any thoughts?

Last summer I had to replace the line that runs through the firewall between the engine compartment and the heater core. All of a sudden the hard plastic line was broken and jagged. Looked like it burned through, maybe - although that didn't seem to be possible based on how long it was in relation to the exhaust. I just used some rubber vacuum hose from Ace Hardware. Don't ask me how I got it through the firewall. Let's just say it isn't a factory install.

I would use 1/8" air brake tubing and connect with your choice of quality hose
Thanks Bob4x4, Is this standard tubing possibly available at the local big rig shops or somewhere else? I have not seen anything like this at the local parts outlets.

Remember, the main thing with vacuum line is that it us under negative pressure, meaning it has to resist getting sucked inward and collapsing as opposed to a line under pressure. I had to replace the vacuum line going from the vacuum pump on my 95 a couple of times because it collapses eventually.

Yes all the big rig shops will have .

I also use it for boost Gage installs.

It seems tp ba a bit nerdier than what the

Gauges ship with. I but it in a 100 foot spool.

The better Napa stores will stock it also
