2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Replacing Break Pads

The first break pad replacement at 45k I did without doing anything to the rotors. At 85k can I do this again? Breaking now is without any pulsation or pulling.

I'd at least have them trued/roughed up to be safe.

I never have them turned unless I feel the peddle pulsate.

I always do a visual inspection & feel how deep the grove is. If they are smooth & don't have too much ridge on the outer edge I go with it.



Eventually you'll want to replace them or have them turned. I just replaced the ones on my 96'. Not sure if the rotors on a 2002 are hi quality & should be kept & turned... But once someone puts on cheap China rotors, I just buy new ones & replace the them... especially if I think they might be warped.

Living in the rust belt, I also paint my rotors (non running surface) with high temp engine paint before installing... they don't internally rust & stop Air cooling as fast then... . alsop nicer to service next time.

I got 42,000 on first set of front pads on a 99 then reploaced them with pads from Auto Zone, I replaced those at 115,000 and the rotors were still ok, no turning. bg
