How do you go about replacing the factory cigarette lighter in a 2001 truck? My brother plugged something in his today and it broke part of it and it just pushed into the dash. His dealer says it is about $100 to replace it plus the cost of the part.

Thanks

It is easy to remove and replace actually there is like 2 tabs that need be pushed simultaneously and pulled out. $100 sounds like a lot of labor but I think the dealer probably charges a minimum of 1 hour labor even if only takes 15 minutes. I don't know what the parts cost so have no help with that cost. You have a service manual it explains the removal installation pretty well.

You should just need to replace the black plastic ring that slides over the lighter. to keep it from sliding into the dash. Had the same issue on my 2000. Purchased the part at the dealer. Don't recall the price.
