I've been noticing more and more rusty lines under hood, just under hood as I undercoat everything else.

I probably need to replace all the fuel return lines and the steel coolant lines at a minimum. The brake lines are probably salvageable, just clean and paint. Does anyone have the Cummins parts listings for the steel lines under hood? Has anyone replaced them... how difficult are they to access?

Or is this something I should just have tackled by Cummins?

Steve,

I would be glad to help you with Cummins Part Numbers, just need your ESN and a rough idea what lines you are concerned with.

Your signature is not showing and I can't remember what you have for a truck.

Also take a few pics of the offending lines so that we may see them, they may look worse than they really are.

Mike. :)

Thanks for the offer, its an 04. 5... most of the return lines from the injections system have heavy scale on the... the only ones that don't are the actual injector lines (because I replaced them) and the supply line because its hose from the airdog. I'm thinking if someone offers a fuel filter delete, I would buy it as those lines look bad (the return lines that pass through the filter mount).

My coolant line on the passenger side, that traverses under the manifold looks like it could spring a leak at any time. That might be easy enough to replace with hose and simply traverse the topside of the engine away from the manifold.

I'd post pictures, but I'm limited at the moment because I'm travelling and only have a Blackberry. Probably every steel line, except those noted, would need replacing... its pretty heavy PA rust, not just surface rust unfortunately.
