1991 5. 9 turbo. It looks like the fuel pump is leaking. Its hard to tell but the fitting will not get any tighter. If and when I re[lace it? Am I to "Bleed" the air out of the lines? If so, How do I go about doing this and is there anything special about this process. I remember doing it on a 350 chevy gas and I remember that rod slipping down. We preferred to do them COLD. Any help will be appreciated. Burgiebill

Is this the lift pump, kinda back behind the injector pump and lines, under about #4 or 5 cylinder; just above the starter? Nothing to that one; hardest part of that one is getting the old gasket scraped off. Make sure you put the lever on the correct side of the cam lobe, and you should be fine. I dotn remember bleeding the lines after doing it; that is reserved for when you open the high pressure side, AFTER the injector pump.

Now if it is the injector pump (left side of engine, six injector lines coming out of it at all sorts of bent angles, going to each cylinder), that is a little more involved. Chilton manual covers it pretty well, though.
