A while back the lower part of the sun visor clip on the drivers side cracked. This is one of the clips on either side of the rear view mirror that hold the sun visor in place. The lower part of the clip is the smooth, rounded part that has a stem and slides into the primary retaining part of the clip that is attached to the head liner. The part was only about $8 but I am concerned about removing the part that fits into the head liner. I have plastic trim sticks so I am not worried about marring the plastic, but I am worried about breaking off the top part of the clip in the headliner. I've gotten the edge of the trim stick under the plastic, but it seems like it will require more force than I am comfortable with to pop the piece out of the headliner. Since it is only the bottom part that is cracked I am willing to replace just that half of the part, but the long stem that is attached to it has broken off and is stuck inside the upper half. Should I not worry about the amount of force it will take to pry the part out of the headliner, or is there a specific technique I should be using? I've looked in the Dodge Repair Manual for the '03 and it makes it seem like it is a simple matter to pop it out and replace it, but if there is a chance of screwing up the headliner I'm not really down for the struggle and will try to pull the stem out of the upper half by using a drill gun and a long, thin screw that I can shoot into the stem and then pull it out.

Those parts just clip into the roof and through holes in the headliner. They are not attached to the headliner at all. The other end of the sun visor attaches with screws of course. ( Also not

attached to headliner ). If you break the clips they are cheap to replace. I removed mine to paint them black and recover my headliner in silver-suede. The overhead console comes out by

popping out the clear maplight covers with a screwdriver to access the bolts. It is then only held on by clips.

Use any means necessary to remove your sunvisor clips and replace if needed.

Thanks. It just seemed like something was going to break with the force I was putting on them.
