A couple of months ago I was searching for ideas on improving the mileage of my 2002 ETH/DEE 6spd 4X4 2500. It was 14mpg highway since new and 11 with camper. That is with the calcs for Rickson/245's. There are now 18K miles on the truck.

After wrestling with all the advice of heavy footitis possibilities (NOT) and cruising too slow with the GV (which was installed at 8K and made no improvements except lovely quiet on the highway) I pursued MAP and AIT sensors and boost leak at Piers Diesel.

No boost leak found and sensors looked OK but were cleaned with (I think) brake cleaner (don't quote me) and we dynoed it with the EZ (which usually brings improvement of one to 1. 5mpg). Dyno showed 270 rwhp and we took the EZ off so I could go bug the dealer about mpg and it was about 230hp on the dyno. About a 40 horse difference so power judged ok.

With the EZ off I did a mileage check and got right at 16. Calculating the speedo difference at 70 which is 9mph or 12% added to the 16 mpg we have 17. 9. Not bad! Now I need to add the EZ back into the deal.

The test was a freeway run without a tailgate but a pile of sandbags near the back. I run the passing lane. It was made for me:D. I used the GV about half the time (1650rpm) and about 2000 for 6th gear. I filled at the same pump to the same spot in the filler neck.

Something distinctly happened with the sensor cleaning and I promised to report it when I got it done so there you have it! geusterman

This is a thread that I started. FASS, 1st Impressions . Not sure how to link to it. You might find something here in the way of ideas. My next step is looking at heating the fuel. Im doing research now on this. I'm currently getting 22. 78 mpg. :)

Wally, I read that thread and was glad too as am considering the FASS as my VP44 guardian. You are a 2X4, right? These non-freewheeling front ends on the later 4X4's are a drag. I will check your thread. geusterman
