2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Reprogramming keyless entry- dodge accessory

Anyone have the Dodge aftermarket keyless entry? I found out today that my keyless entry is not the factory one but the Dodge performace accessories keyless. One of my FOB's quit so I bought another but don't know how to program it. It is not connected to the computer- one of the service coordinators plugged it in and couldn't find it. Does anyone else have the accessory version of keyless entry and how do you reprogram new FOB's for it?

Not sure of your year model (hint edit your profile and enter truck specs and we can help you more)



Perhaps they sold you a very late model remote? That works with the third gen truck, if so it may not be backwards compatible. Its my understanding that the DRBIII is often necessary to program remotes for very late models (02-05).



It sounds like its not getting a signal to the receiver in the door.



Look at the dodgeram.org. I think a TSB is listed on reprogramming which should align with the owners or factory service manual.



I've installed several of these Mopar accessories (combo alarm and keyless entry) that needed no reprogramming. Perhaps the DC dealer did it before I picked up the kit?

OK, I'll take a shot at this, from memory. A few weeks ago I had a look at the installation manual for my '95's keyless entry (Mopar). There were instructions for teaching the truck to recognize a new fob. As I recall (I don't have the instructions available right now) here's what you do:

Within 5 seconds do steps 1 & 2:

1. Turn the key on

2. Turn the dome light on and off 3 times... or was it 5 times?

The system should enter learn mode, which it announces by beeping several times. After you hear the beeps, press the "number 1" button on the fob (I'm not sure which one is the #1). I seem to recall the truck will beep again once it learns a fob, but maybe not. If you have any other fobs for this truck, punch their #1 buttons now, too (when you program in a new fob, the truck forgets all the old fobs it ever knew, so you need to program all fobs in the same session).



When you're done, turn the key off.

you have to know which version you have. The instruction sheet that comes with the fob will tell you how to tell the version you have. If your new fob did not come with the instruction sheet you got the wrong fob.

the truck is a 1999

The remote I just bought looks the same as the ones I have. One still works, the other quit so I just need to reprogam the one new remote. The parts guy at the dodge dealer and I looked up the transmitter in the dodge accessories book.

I don't have the alarm on the truck (that I know of) so the transmitter just controls the keyless entry and the dome light.

I know it is not connected to the computer because one service rep. came out and plugged the truck in and couldn't find it.

I'm getting ready to install one on my 02,the book says,1. open drivers door,2. turn ignition on,3. press and hold Status Indicator / Programming button in"after approx 15 sec the locks will cycle once this mean its in programming mode"4. release button,wait 5 sec,5. press button 1 on the new transmitter. the locks should cycle once,6. repeat step 5 for any additional transmitters,7. exit programming mode by turning ignition off.
