The founding fathers had a different "spin" on the one man one vote idea. It was one MAN one vote. ( womens sufferage was much later) Of course you had to be a landed ( property owning ) gentleman to be considered. This was the franchise. The thought was that those who made little contibution in society had no right to make the decisions for it. Of course this was abused. If you were not the right group you were not allowed to buy land. The pendulum has swung the other way. The only franchise now is pulse, respiration and open eyes ( not necessarily seeing ). So you have alzenhiemers patients trucked out of a nursing home told to vote the second one down, giving several thousand votes to pat Buchannen. The franchise will never be back. Something fair that everyone could earn. Honorable service in the military. Or paying income taxes. But that would be " undemocratic" (not in my view) I guess the founding fathers will then have to be considered "undemocratic". But we have this system where anyone who can charter some busses and come up with a couple of cases of ensure, can roust up thousands of votes. Sometimes for the wrong candidate. Sometimes the mistake can cost the goatee commie an entire election! Well I for one am glad we are not presently giving aid packages to Osama Bin Laden so he won't hurt us again. Which if the tree hugging commie was in the white house we would probably be doing right now. But look at the new florida voting machines. Which will ensure that the base constituency of the democrats will be able to vote. ( even illiterates, non english speakers, and alzenhiemer patients can figure it out)

Just voted early yesterday all Rep. but one

Almost voted for the libertarian Governor candidate, with all of the neg. campaign crap lately. I ended up voting for the Rep. anyway, but I did vote for a Dem. District Judge. The Rep. candidate was a real tool in that Judge slot.

Registered conservative Democrat from the old school of conservative Democrats. Don't like what's happened to the Democratic party. Will be changing party affiliation to Independent after this November 5th election. Don't care for either party's extremist views. Jeb Bush has introduced more red tape and fees to Florida than any governor before him. No new taxes. Just revenue enhancements (fees) like never before.

FWIW, I sent in my absentee ballot on Friday - libertarian, republican & one democrat. Yep, I'm just a party line democrat aren't I?



Since when is english the national language and speaking/writing/reading a requirement to vote? Since most people here like to quote the Constitution please show me where it says english is the national language.

Of course, the fed.gov doesn't recognize the existance of that amendment.

A Volvo? With a gun rack? I've never seen such an animal. I went back and re-read my signature. I didn't see any Volvo. And gun racks are tacky but they do look good in a '74 F150 out in front of a double-wide!
