Smoked scooter??

Jet fuel???

Has anyone had trouble selling their truck. I've had this thing in two papers and on the intenet for almost 2 months with no success! I've been told that a black truck with a 5-speed will be tough to get rid of, but I have so many mods and the truck is beautiful I thought it would be gone in a week. Are there any suggestions? Thanks

Maybe when the right person comes along. These trucks are like specialty items, sometimes hard to sell, sometimes hard to find.

I purchased my truck used. I had a heck of a time finding the right truck for the right price. Found it on Autotrader.com. I ended up driving 400 miles to get it, but don't regret it one bit. :D

No doubt being black in las vegas isn't cool. I would just hang in there and wait for the right person. I know it isn't a solution.

exactly right, if you have a ctd you can stand firm on your selling price. they are rare and sometimes impossible to find on the trade in mkt, for a good reason... ;)

De-mod it back to bone stock and try it, I know I am scared to death of a modified vehicle on the used market. Sell your mods seperately. MHO, hope it helps.

BTW, people have been conditioned that lifts mean the truck was abused, true or not that is the reality.

It took me 3 months to sell mine. I lost money on my wheels, but stood firm with the price until the right person came along. Another thing to think about is most people have gotten their tax refunds back already and have already spent it.

Some banks are getting strict about loaning money on vehicles more than 5 years old.

Keep your chin up, the right person will come along.

Well its kinda hard to see what the asking price is due to posting restrictions here, but, from what I can see and know the only thing that would make it a hard sell is the add-ons you have,,Out here in PA where I am from there seems to be a high demand for stick trucks(12 or 24 valve,no matter)but they are hard to come by,,It would not take long to move it out here, but, the modifications will make it a special buyer type truck,,Meaning a normal truck shopper will not fall over the add-ons but a person who knows will and they are hard to come by but out there,,I have a very good friend of mine who is a dealer that specializes in homes for Rams without a home PM me and I'll drop you his number, call him all you'll loose is the time,,He will shoot straight from the hip and give you a honest opinion and he is a TDR member,,Let me know if we can assist..... The suspension & body lift are the biggest problems IMO. Chromed 5" suspension lift with dual shocks & 3" body lift (I've never seen a CTD with a body lift) is something you would normally find on a 1/2 ton chevy. Most people looking for a CTD are buying one to work or tow and the way your truck is set-up doesn't lend itself to that. Remove the suspension & body lifts and I bet you'll find a buyer in short order.

Been There,Felt That

I had my '98 12v up(advertised on paper+web)for sale for a year and a couple of months. Wound up throwing in the towel and dropping trou. 0% financing sealed the deal. Took it coming and going. I'm in Chicago and nobody even looked at it. I used three web trade value sites to get a price. The prices in the TDR classifieds seem up there. I really wanted to dump it while I can afford payments. Everbody said"if it was a 5spd". It was stock 4x4.

Good luck!Out west Diesels are more popular.

I'm now driving a Tundra, but I still love this site!

just to add. .

unemployment is went up again this past month, manufacturering is stalled and some other players went out of business. So with a weak economy the truck wont move as fast and wont comand as high as a price (for a truck with the same relative age) as it would have a two years ago before all of this poo started.

Also around here, you can hardly give a 2x4 away. The 4x4 do go much quicker. I guess by reading your tag line that you have a 4x4. . I dont know what sells better in your area

About three years ago I had my 1994 3/4T (standard cab) up for sale for nearly a year. Had lots of calls, but their first questions were: "Is it a 4 X 4 and is it a quad or crew cab. When I said No to both question they hung up.

On my 2000 it is a quad and it is a 4 X 4, so I should have my bases covered when and if I put it up for sale.

I tried responding to this thread earlier - but the new server screwed up my account and prevented me from posting...

ANYWAY, MOST folks buy Dodge/Cummins - or ANY diesel powered truck for serious WORK or towing - and I can tell ya for sure, a lift kit would be an instant turn-off and deal killer for ME!

That would be the first thing *I* would hafta REMOVE before I could even USE the truck... :(

Sounds like a righteous ride, but...

Could you just be priced too high to cover all the goodies?

:--)

Ok, I said it, but it's true. Most people looking are going to be clueless to your investment. And if they need a loan to buy it, the idiots at the bank are only going to go by the blue book, regardless if you've got $10k of extras. If you don't break it up, you're probably gonna lose your a$$. Sorry, but true.

If I was in the market, I'd be looking at it. Unfortunately, I'm still breaking this one in. Passed 87k on Saturday. Oo.

The 37,'s and lift kit got to go. They are whats wrong. Most guys who buy used trucks, buy them to work them. I feel my stock CTD is to tall to use the bed, with 37's,and a lift its useless,so is its towing capabiltys. Remember who you are targeting with your ad,not many are looking for show trucks used, they buy those new,and build them to suit. If you got rid of those things,i feel it would sell if its priced competitively. I feel 90% of the trucks on the TDR classifieds are way to high priced, and I bought my 2000 for the same money they were asking for 98,and 99's on here with with twice the miles.

I agree with removing the lift kit and big tires. When I'm shopping for a truck, I just bypass the ads that state lifted or tire sizes more than 2 sizes bigger than stock. Just had two guys ask me if I wanted to sell my truck in the past two weeks. One asked me if I would take $25K for it and told him I wouldn't even consider anything less than $30K for it. I could not replace it for less than that. Even at $30K I would have to think about it... . I just got too much money in it and I like my truck too much. With only 63K miles on it, it should last me at least another 10 years.

I understand that it takes a certain person to want a truck like this, but rather than going through the trouble of taking all this stuff off, I guess I'd rather just trade it in. As for the comments regarding towing, the only thing that it's useless for is 5th wheels, and as a matter of fact it tows 10000lbs worth of Weekend Warrior down the highway at 80mph just fine.

(my trailer is lifted too)

LMAO. Yea, hard to sell when youre selling, and hard to find when you want one.

I have no plans on selling mine. :D

I agree with the other guys, the lift kit and tires in an add is a huge turn off. i dont give them a second look. plus you have it straight piped which IMO is the poor mans exhaust system and tells me someone didnt have alot of money for other things, like maintenance items.

dont take me wrong, I know what you have, and know its a good truck. but someone outside of yours and ours world doesnt. most folks looking for a cummins are looking to tow with it or work it. not escalate into it and cruise the Vegas strip :D you should lower it back down put some heavy duty tires back on it and a good exhaust system or the stock muffler. you have one thing going for you... . its a longbed, the fiver guys like those :D

my last truck looked totally stock, it sold in 3 weeks with just a window sticker on front and back.
