West Marine has a "below deck" 18 gal. plastic tank I put where the spare is... just strap and bolt and figuredout the fill hose thing... they also have an electric gauge for it. . look in my readers rigs. . can't remember which folder. . but it is in there somewhere... had this pumped with a regular holley pump to the capped port on top of the main tank. run a switch to the dash and transfer wen the main is low... . have over 50 gal total now... .

Depends on what is reasonable. I have a 40 gallon with tool box from Northern Tool. 450 I think, about 5 years ago. It is made by RDS in Perry Florida.

I had a 20 gal aluminum tank made to fit in the spare tire location. I coated it with polyurethane bed liner, and installed a Centroid sender. I use a FASS II as a transfer pump.

Along with the 54 gal. Transfer flo, I can make it most of the way thru Canada!!!!!

I installed a Transfer Flow 38 gallon tank where the spare tire was. It's been there for seven years. It was expensive. I'll never recoup the cost on fuel savings. The idea, though was to avoid the $900 back country tow if I split the poly tank. And it's nice to fill up quarterly.

Has anyone found a place to purchase reserve fuel tanks reasonable???

I found an old GMC dump truck in a scrap yard (not wrecking yard that sells parts) and bought the saddle tanks off it. Complete with fuel level sending unit and plumbing for $75 if I took them off. I did.

I got the 90gal RDS fuel tank/tool box combo for about 550 over two years ago. Very nice aluminum tank. All together with shipping, tank, pump, filter & plumbing would have been around 800 bucks. Since I live in the cold I had to upgrade the transfer lines to arctic grade hoses (very spendy). I also installed a fuel level sender & auto meter gauge in the cab. Its been worth it. I can make it all the way thru Canada with 115gals useable.
