Hello again TDR Gurus,

Performed my first oil change today on my new 2010 Ram. I never got an oil change nag on the EVIC, but it has been 5 months since I bought the truck and I had 5800 miles on the rig.

At any rate, changed the oil with filter and went through the "oil change interval calculator" reset sequence by turning the key to ON, pumping the pedal 3 times to the floor within 10 seconds, and turning the key back to OFF.

My question is, what indication do I get the truck has recognized my request to "reset" the interval timer/computation?

Is there somewhere in the EVIC I can see this information? If so, I sure don't know where it is hiding.

Any information you can provide would be appreciated.

Thanks, Kevin

We have an 08 5500 and have stretched the interval to 8500 and have never seen the oil change information come on... of course this is a road truck which now has over 140K miles. .

As I understand the software, it has the ability to see an oil change or at least clean different oil and base the judgment on these factors...

Thanks for the info guys,

My son has the Chevy Duramax and his truck counts down from 100%, and is reset using the trip odometer reset push rod. Once pushed, the display reads 100% again.

Too bad the Dodge display does not give any indication the oil change calculator has been successfully reset. Would have been on the top of my list in terms of service procedures, but hey, that's just me!

Thanks again, Kevin

My understanding of how the EVIC determines the oil change is that the message is displayed based on an algorithm in the computer that is based on fuel used and driving type (idle time, stop and road mileage). My message just came on at 8200 since the last change. I was away from home and kept waiting and finally got the message on the way back to Georgia.

I changed the oil, went throught the reset procedure and the warning message disappeared. That's the only indication I got.

Unfortunately no way to be sure it reset if the light is not on at the time. The dealer scan tool can see miles since last reset.
