Resonance

I had the 4" Jardine exhaust system installed by a local muffler shop. He welded the joints and the only muffler clamps used were the ones needed as hangars.

I like the way it sounds, havem't towed yet so don't know how beneficial it will be. I do have a resonance at 2100 rpm. I know that resonance is a frequency vibration. Could the long straight pipe before the muffler and no clamps be agrivation this?

Would installing the clamps help?

Would putting clamps on somewhere along the pipe help by causing it to vibrate differently?

Or do I just need to add another muffler?

There have been so many different things tried by so many different people that it is hard to tell what will work for you. What has worked for some has not worked for others. My drone is only real bad out of O. D. It is really bad towing. I'm getting ready to try adding another muffler and see what two will do for me.

Jardine's sent me a 4" resonator........

Cured the problem. Much smaller than a muffler and straight thru so it didn't effect performance any. I mounted it as far forward as I coud on the long pipe. I welded my joints too trying to solve the problem. Wish I hadn't. Moving the muffler up right behind the first pipe would probaly have helped kill the drone. Now I use the strap type muffler clamps. They allow disassembly if needed.



On the 02 I used Rip's system and mounted the muffler right after the forward pipe and so far no drone. The 02's much lighter than the beast and I haven't really had it under load yet so we'll see.

The dreaded drone

Cured my Jardine drone with the small muffler/resonator from Jardine. It did make the exhaust quiter but did'nt affect egt's any. Like stated above its a straight through design.
