I have straight 4" from the resonator back. Left the resonator on to try to avoid the dreaded drone. Also looks enough like a muffler to Johnny Law!:D ;) Sounds really sweet! I'm happy with it.

?

Your's came with a muffler and a resonator? My truck came from the dealer with neither and it sounds pretty damn good! Although, not as good as straight four or five inch! (At least that is what I told my wife..... Ha, Ha!!) :D

Chuck the resonator, iit's not that load in the cab and the sound outside is great. The only time I notice the droan is when lugging up a long hill with a load, if you just down shift it will go away.

Stait Pipes Rule. :D

I took both off of my truck and, well lets just say the neighbors probably did'nt like it. Neither did anybody going down the road beside me. I had to put a muffler back on to quiet it down.

If you don't mind loud exhaust, go ahead.

It was mean sounding though.

take it all off man...

I took it all off, and it sounds great. Hardly noticable at idle, but can make it loud if I want to. The key to that sentencice is "IF I WANT TO". If I had to do it all again, I would do the same thing, and for under $50 all weilded up aint too bad.

I just had my truck straight piped today... . sounds great with the resonator left on.

I like this way compared to the '93 I had because it is a little cleaner sounding.

It sounds awesome, I have been driving around all day with the windows down in rain just to hear it when I shift!! :D

Mine lost everything - I even changed my schedule at work so I could drive an extra 20 miles a day... ... just to listen to it.

Count me the newest member to the straight-pipe club, and I love it! Sounds great. I've been driving through the parking garages at work with the windows down just to hear it. My wife on the other hand... I recommend removing the resonator & muffler and just going with a straight pipe. Keep the parts and you can always put them back on if you don't like it.

By the way, anyone want a stock muffler/resonator assembly?

Just have a 4" resonator off a 5 ton dump and straight the rest of the way. Though there wasn't much in the way in the new resonator :p . I have a 2000 TDI also and would like to put a straight pipe and puter on it so I know when it's running  . Don't think she will let me though. :(

Hey, has anybody taken the resonator off and left the muffler on? What does that sound like? Or do you end up with a muffled drone? Curious... Has anyone bought the muffler elimination kit from Geno's, and if so how does it fit? I'm prolly gonna order one but I would like to know if it works well.

Well it sounds great!! I had to "test" the smoke ability on a rice burning boom box on wheels, smoked him good with a third gear launch. Best thing was that with a little RPM and load I didnt have to *listen* to him anymore. The Cummins sure sounded better than boom, boom, boom, or his coughing :D We kept the resonater because they didnt have enough 3" pipe, but sure is better now. I get atleast 5 PSI more boost, 50% faster spool-up, and more smiles now. Bet there will be a drop in MPG because of added pressure on the APPS... Everything I add to the truck seems to increase the pressure on the APPS

I put a straight pipe on mine but after a couple weeks put the resonater back on. It cuts down the higher rpm drone if you ask me. I also insulated the panel between the back of the cab and the bed. It made a big difference on interior noise. A few cans of undercoating under the cab and some fiberglass header wrap around the down pipe helped also. I would say inside my truck is guieter than stock but outside is louder, mine oppinion. :) brian
