Well, I finally was able to get the time to restack the clutches in the Trac-loc. When I opened the diff case, I was not surprised to see I had only two active friction surfaces in each pack. In the new clutch pack that I ordered, there were 7 plates and 5 disks per side. I removed one of the new plates and substitiued in on of the old disks. Now I do not like mixing new and old, but the old disk I used was sandwiched in between to other disks, so it was inactive and looked brand new.

The difference is unbelievable. It chatters the inside tire on tight corners, but it is not annoying. I am able to put three tires on pavement, and three on gravel and the gravel side does not spin freely! Mission accomplished. The only issues I can see is that the L/S case halves are torqued to 100 lb/ft. Holding the setup while torqueing is tough. I used a case spreader to put hte unit back in. In order to use the spreader, I had to drop the sway-bar down for clearance.

I am running straight 85-140 dino oil, with no friction modifier. I paln on puting about a thousand miles on it and dumping the oil and refilling with semi-synthetic.

Tim, I tell ya, this thing acts like a locker... I love it. Hopefully it will last a decent amount of miles. My original clutches were toast. The LSD never worked from the day I bought hte truck.
