i restacked the clutch plates in my LSD about 2500 miles ago and refilled with synthetic gear oil. for the first 300-500 miles it was fine. then it started to make a lot of noise when turning. i added some friction modifier which seemed to help a little, but it is still doing it and seemingly getting a bit worse. questions are this:
with the noise, are the clutch plates experiencing abnormal wear, or grinding themselves up?
is there a balance to the friction modifier at which the oil and clutches are so slippery that the restack is ineffective?
should i just add more modifer until it quites making noise?
or, is this common and don't worry about it. (i would hate to tear something up or cause major premature failure. )
