You do not have an understanding of the difficulties involved in gathering intelligence. Especially when you have been pillaged by the Clinton years. Intel is a VERY difficult, VERY dangerous job. Often times, the best we can do is make an educated guess. There are few certainties in this life.
It is a great offense for you to impune the dignity and sacrifices of those who place their lives in danger to gather intelligence. You, sir, spit on the sacrifices of those who have given their lives in dangerous missions to gather this "worthless" information. I submit to you that the blood of those who worked for it makes intelligence have "worth". Are you so ignorant as to believe that all our intel just comes from spy satellites and signals intercepts.
What good is it to have honor if you no longer exist?? There is honor in sacrificing to bring the ideals of liberty, freedom, and equality to a people who have never known them. If we TRULY believe in these values, then we must be willing to fight for them- on our behalf, and on behalf of others. We went to war in WW2, yet the only thing we really lost was a base in Hawaii. What were we REALLY fighting for in WW2? Tell me what vital US interest was at stake? NOTHING. NOTHING AT ALL. If we wanted to, we could have turned the other cheek and gone on with our lives. We would have been just fine-- for a while. But we couldn't. We saw evil in the world. We saw countries being steamrolled-- China in 1937, Poland in 1939, France in 1940. We recognized a MORAL call to arms to defend the world against evil. Evil does exist, and I believe we must fight against it. Today, that evil takes the form of militant Islam.
I don't know if our efforts will be successful in Iraq, like we were in Japan and Germany. I think that the Islamic culture there is a large obstacle to overcome. Time will tell.
A democracy is not necessarily what we are trying to set up in Iraq. Heck, we don't have one here in the US-- we have a representative republic that has a democratic process to it. Time will demonstrate whether or not the people of Iraq have the maturity to govern themselves, or if they will disintegrate into totalitarianism.
But history will judge us well for sacrificing to give them a chance.
As for your feelings of safety, FEELINGS are a poor substitute for the real thing. Who cares whether you FEEL safe or not?? What matters is if you ARE safe!! If a feeling was sufficient, then the existing airport security system would be excellent! Instead, it has become exactly the same as gun control: a harassment to the law-abiding, and NOT a deterrent to criminals. You and I BOTH know that if you wanted to slip something onto a plane, it would be extremely easy to do. Ceramic bladed knives, plastic weapons, etc... Shoot, even a pen would be used as a weapon if you want. Who says you won't strangle someone with your laptop cord??
You have revealed a key liberal flaw: truth and reality don't matter, only how they make you feel. Vomit!!
